Kerokan. A term familiar to Indonesians but relatively unknown on the international stage. Kerokan has become a generational heritage in Indonesia. For Indonesians, kerokan is considered one of the most effective treatments for ailments such as masuk angin (a condition akin to the common cold). It is also assumed to be a method for improving blood circulation.

However, is kerokan truly beneficial, or is it merely a mindset and belief of the Indonesian people? From a medical perspective, is kerokan permissible, or does it instead cause other illnesses? From the perspective of kerokan practitioners, does this profession provide sufficient income to support their livelihood?
